In F1, does the safety car not just make the race pointless?

Racing is about building up small incremental millisecond advantages over your rivals lap after lap, but then the safety car comes out and wipes all that work out as the cars bunch up again - you might as well be back on the starting grid.|||I'm afraid that's a part of motorsport and there is no real way of avoiding it. If you think its pointless your welcome not to build a gap from the guy behind but I don' think you will hold your position very long!|||I actually think it makes it more exiting as all the cars are backed up and its like a new start|||Well, there is that pesky safety thingy ...|||no it to make sure that the cars don't have an accident but sort of it would be betta if there was a big crash.
