Why is the safety car behind the grid at the start and where does it go when the race starts since line crsd?

when a race starts the safety car is at the end of the grid. why does it position itself there. after the race starts where does this car go. how does it enter the pit lane given that it has already crossed the pit entry?|||Actually I think it's not the safety car that's behind the grid but the Medical Car. the Medical Car is very similar to the safety car except that it contains doctors and medical equipment inside it, and is not used to control the other cars' pace. I think this is so because whenever there was a first lap incident I always saw the safety car exit the pits, rather than overtake the other cars to get to the front.

Anyway, the Medical Car does so because it is a common occurrence for there to be accidents on the first lap. If this happens then the Medical Car will get to the accident in no time and will provide first aid to the drivers, should there be the need for it. If this does not happen then the Medical Car returns to the pits after a lap and stays there until (if) it is called.

Hope this helps :)|||"HEY THERE" is wrong. It is not the Safety Car, and the safety car does not overtake, it makes everyone else catch up. It is actually the Medical Car. The Safety car is always parked just before the pit exit along with another Medical Car. The Medical Car is a big bulky car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkvI1Vmey鈥?/a> At 0.22 on the video, you can see the medical car. The Safety car then, is tucked up beside the Garages. If there is a massive crash, the medical car will get the drivers off the track and out of danger quickly. If nothing happens, the medical car trails the pack in case of a first lap incident and drives in through the pits on the second lap. However, in Monaco and Valencia and Singapore, The medical car either reverses and enters the pit entrance before the cars arrive or pulls in through one of the Holes that the stewards use to get Cars off track. For example, at Monaco, the Medical car drives into a hole just after the first corner.|||It's there for 'safety' in case they don't all get off the grid and the SC is needed.

I imagine they go to the end of the pit lane, and back onto the side - I've not watched but for sure, they don't follow the cars right around the whole circuit LOL|||It's a medical car if somebody stalls on the grid and somebody goes up his **** it could be very bad.
