Which colour car would you prefer to have ? Does colour make a difference to the cars safety?

Research published today in the UK has suggested that white car drivers are less likely to have an accident, and are the safest to drive.

But does that mean that "white van man" is a myth ? (White van man is rupetedly a dangerous driver!)

Statistics can be used to say anything. Interested in your thoughts.|||don't get yellow

it attracts the flies|||I will not look at white black or green cars|||I guess you are asking about visibility? The two most visible colors are yellow and white. This is why most taxis are yellow. Some colors draw more attention, for example red cars are said to look like they are going faster and therefore get more speeding tickets. Regardless to color the driver is what makes the vehicle safe or unsafe.|||The worst colours are silver, grey and black since they blend with the background. Better having bright colours such as red, yellow or other metallic colours.|||I heard green cars were the most dangerous. There may be a correlation between colour and number of accidents but that doesn't mean there is any causation.

White vans are driven by more plasterers/builders etc than any other colour. It also happens to be that these people tend to be selfish drivers.

As for favourite colour, has to be silver for a car my friend|||Fire trucks in some cities are now mostly white or yellow to reduce accidents where dark red is harder to see at night.

I personally prefer a white car to reduce the summer heat load and to be more specific a white car with a silver roof and a flat black hood if I can see the hood from the driver's seat. Have repainted a school bus camper conversion and one long term owned car that way. Just the silver roof on the van with the snub hood.|||White,

because they can be seen very easily.

However, white van man is not a myth and you can add "Taxi drivers" to that as well. Theyare really dangerous people even in white taxis.|||personally based on colour i think black cars are the nicest but then again this might be true , based on the people around me the ones with white cars have had less accidents lol/.|||i know at one time in Germany, red cars cost more to insure, due to the higher accident rate. don't know if the same still holds. this could just be due to red being a popular colour, hence more red cars on the road. 'van man' would be more accurate now, (vans now appearing in a bigger range of colours) not to tar all van drivers with the same brush, but i have had a load of personal experience's with some plain dangerous driving from van drivers. as for the colour i would have. the only colour is black|||Depends where you are, I guess. I was told that white cars are the least safe because they are hardest to see at dusk/dawn or in foggy conditions, e.g. in U.K. I was told that bright red/scarlet is the safest, purely in terms of visibility.Also white cars are not always clean and so can be a grey colour.|||my favorite is "RED" ... but I've read that dark colored cars are most likely to have accident compared to light colored cars... but I still like "RED" because that is my favorite color on anything...|||red cars are statistically more likely to have an accident|||The color of the vehicle makes a difference in how far away it is seen clearly, as explained by Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defensive_d鈥?/a>

Some colors are especially bad

* at night when poor lighting

* at dawn %26amp; dusk

* in urban settings

I would think that turn signals, brake lights, etc. might be more obvious when there is a contrast between them and the color of the car.

Tinted windows mean YOU do not see as well, especially at night.

Other factors than color include the shape of the vehicle, and whether it has a high or low center of mass (is it likely to roll-over, does it "hold the road" good?)|||I like silvery blue... ( Don't know if u understood me)... Saw it on a Lexus once, and it looked gorgeous.. And it is a very calm colour|||I know that red triggers anger, excitement, speed, so they probably have more crashes and more tickets.|||well its not a big thing that will cause an accident but yes darker colors are harder to see and probably more likely to to get hit...
