Safety being the #1 priority, what is the best car seat for a five-pound dog?

I have a maltipoo and I would love some recommendations for a car seat for her. Safety is the most important thing for me in case we'd ever get in an accident with her in the car.|||a secured travel cage, like the one you would buy for taking her on a plane, they are built for taking a bit, and arent too big, the dog will lay inside it and thats safer, just need to make sure the cage is secured in the car so it cant go flying

there is a reason they are used on planes, the hard plastic is fairly solid, and yes they are small, but the reason its safer for the dog to only just have enough room in the cage to lay comfortable, and not enough room too run around|||A Vari-Kennel crate. Imagine what will happen in an accident if the dog is in a car seat or harness and the vehicle is hit. A well built crate is the only chance they have of surviving an impact of 35 mph or above. A crate is the only way of assuring the dog remains inside the vehicle if the doors come open or the windows are shattered.|||In my opinion, car seat's are for HUMANS, not animals.

Buy a crate (if you don't already have one) Since a malti-poo is a very small breed of dog, the crate will be able to fit easily in your car.

Keep her in there, with a blanket to lay on, and a chew toy to keep her entertained.

Then either:

1. Put her on the seat, with the seatbelt securing her.

2. Put in on the floor in the back, so theres no chance for her crate to tip over.|||I got safety harness for my dog for when they go in the car. I got them Dr's Foster and Smith. But I have also seen them for small to tiny dogs a Pet Supplies. They connect right to the seat belt|||I would get this http://www.netpetshop.co.uk/p-22567-trix鈥?/a>|||i get a safety harness for mine

but they have car seats at petsmart
