Can you use a forward-facing car-seat without the safety tether strap thing ?

Our second car is an old pick-up with one long bench seat, simple cab. There are no anchors of any type for baby seats. We are still installing her convertible face-backwards because I read in the manual that you should never do it in the forward-facing position without the safety strap.

What do can I do ? She is getting too big to face backwards. Does anyone know of a model of seat that doesn't require the safety strap ? Is it legal not to have it (this is an older vehicle ?)|||its not wise to put a car seat in the front seat of any vehicle. its not safe.

if the seat has a safety strap then use it. if you got no points of contact then you are risking your daughters safety.|||you should not use a baby seat in any car without the anchor bolt for the safety straps to attach to. Rear or forward facing it doesn't matter....its not safe. The manual for installing it rearfacing would still tell you to use the safety strap to install it correctly.

If you have a collision you will feel guilty for the rest of your life if something happened to your baby.

Since you said this your second car you need to only use your 'first' car when driving with the baby no matter how inconviencing that might be.

OR simple answer, get a new car no matter what it takes if you have to transport her in the second car. You can't put a price on safety.

OR have an anchor bolt put in the car. some mechanics can do this but usually only on certain cars.|||If your car/truck doesn't have it then it doesn't have it... What can you do?

Just make sure when you put the car seat in... you get the seat belt really tight...If the seatbelt is tight enough then the carseat won't move much (if at all)|||you can actually get an anchor point installed into any vehicle for fairly small cost, i would suggest you do this as spending a small amount to do that is worth it when it comes to your childs safety...|||no its not legal, the strap is there for a reason, without the use of it you are putting your baby in danger
