I can't afford a $400 car seat but he is outgrowing his rear facing seat. What is the best dollar for dollar convertible seat without risking safety?|||There are a lot on the market but Britax rates highest among safety according to Consumer Reports. With that means you pay more $$. But think of it. Some Britax models go up to 65 pounds...that means your son will be in for a LONG time. What seems like a lot of money now actually may save you some money in the long run when you think of safety, comfort, durability, etc. Britax also ranks high with safety features and ease of use (harnessing, installation). There is a Cosco model too which is high on consumer reports and is alot cheaper. Good luck in your search.|||It may not answer your question in regards to cost, but the Britax Marathon seat is fantastic. We have 2, one in each car.
We had the Eddie Bauer 3 - 1 seat in my husbands car and HATED it. It was awful....a pain to adjust, and my DD didn't seem comfortable in it. My husband took it out and exchanged it for another Marathon.
So, my vote:
Yay for Britax Marathon
Nay for Eddie Bauer 3 - 1
