What important items should I have in my car for safety for cold wintery weather?

please include item and explanation.|||1) blanket(s)- in case you are stranded you need something to keep warm


2) scraper with brush attachement- to clear window properly


3) flares- in case accident


4) sand or kitty litter- to use when traction is needed


5) always have at least a half tank of gas-you never know when are going to get stuck in weather related traffic


6) de-icer- to de-ice locks and windows


7) cell phone-to contact someone in the even of an emergency or to let them know you are stuck in a traffic jam because the ding bats in the 4 wheel drive SUVs think they can roll down the highway at 75 in ice when 4 wheel doesn't help a lick in the ICE!|||food, water, blankets, flashlight, jumper cables, spare tire, chains, gloves (obvious reasons)

17. peanut butter|||blanket, flashlight, jumper cables, cell phone, when you car dies you will thank me|||Insulated coveralls, STURDY insulated boots (not the $30 chinamart trash), insulated hat (they look stupid, but keep your noggin warm!), insulated gloves, water, high calorie food (MREs), flashlight (with extra batteries), CELL PHONE, kitty litter, trenching tool/shovel, multi-tool (Leatherman), extra windshield washer/deicer, and a CB Radio if possible. Keep fuel tank topped off at all times in case you're stuck for a long duration so you can keep the engine running -aka HEAT- and to provide more weight which will help maintain traction.





If stranded, DO NOT run the engine without first making certain the exhaust is clear of snow, and one window is open about 1" to provide fresh air - if not you'll die from CO poisoning. Above all else, if you have assistance coming - do not wander away from the vehicle (unless its on fire!).|||In addition to what Just Me said above...glove warmers. you can buy them in hardware stores and you can put them in your gloves or shoes to keep feet and hands warm and they last in your trunk forever cause they dont get warm to you "activate" them. Also a small tim can full of small candles and a box of matches. When you light a candle in a tin can it radiates heat like a heater. In your flash light keep the batteries in wrong till you are ready to use it that way they dont accidentally turn on in your trunk and end up dead when u need them! Keep a small bad of personal items (travel tooth brush and paste, sanitery items and clean pair of underwear in a zip lock bag (never know what time of the month you will get stuck!), few bottles or a gallon of water. Baby wipes, 1st aid kit, kid friendly actvities (if that appllies to you).|||If you have any down sleeping bags, I'd throw those in the trunk instead, or in addition to, blankets....they keep you warmer and don't take up much space.|||a good man....an alaskan man...
