What is the best car to buy for a family of four with good safety ratings and gas mileage?

I want to buy a new car for my family of four. I want it to have good gas mileage and safety ratings, are there any suggestions as to which car I should buy?|||Kia Soul|||The 2010 and 2011 Chevrolet Malibu would be a good place to start. The 2008 Malibu (which is the current style for the vehicle) won the Car of the Year award and the 2010 won the Consumers Digest Best Buy award as well as the IIHS Top Safety Pick. It is also estimated by the EPA to get 33 mpg highway. It seats up to 5 comfortably and has 15.1 cubic feet of space in the trunk. I hope this recommendation helps you.
