Why don't they make the child safety lock accessible from inside the car?

Why do you have to get out of the car to push the child safety lock on the door. Why can't this accessible from inside of the car.|||That would kind of defeat the purpose of a child safety lock, wouldn't it?|||because then the child will be able to disable the lock DUH|||Because the kid could undo it! And it has to be mechanical (thus inside the door)|||because the child will be able to disable the child lock, thus making child-safety locks redundant|||Because then it is accessible to the child and would defeat the whole purpose of having one|||Simple answer is , it would defeat the purpose if the child could open it. That's why they are placed where they are, on the door or door frame.|||Because if you were lucky enough to get your date in the back seat, she'd be able to escape more easily!

If the lock was inside with the other lock it defeats the purpose so you might as well only have the original locks as they usually can't reach them from a CARSEAT.|||so the kid doesnt accidentally unlock it himself||| If it was accessible from inside, the kid would unlock it and open the door whole driving, right?? It is not there to keep kids from opening the door from the outside while driving down the highway. That would be a very fast kid!|||Because it is safer this way, it forces you to get out of the vehicle to open the door...........||| I had a real pithy answer for this one but I'll just agree with the rest of the responders and leave it at that.

It's out of the way for a reason. Think about it.|||This would be pointless as the little one will soon sort this out and open them when they wont to !
