Does't anyone think that lewis was driving poor behind the safety car?

he purposly slowed the cars down and the drivers where complaining afterwards and he caused the crash between mark and vettel. i think he should be punished but this doesnt mean i'm one of those fans who hate lewis. because i'm not !|||I didn't really know anything about it until I saw the youtube video. of the incident. Japanese television only showed the aftermath.

It's highly questionable but I've seen other drivers get very close to the safety car before. Maybe not in a torrential downpour but they will get close in order to keep the temperature up in the tires and brakes.

It looks like he goes wide to the right, I guess in order to try and fall back behind the safety car, and then Webber and Vettel have to slow down quickly to keep from passing Hamilton. Vettel then slams into the back of Webber.

Technically you can call it brake checking but who's to say that if the track were totally dry that Vettel would have never hit Webber.

You're probably going to see a clarification from the FIA about how cars are supposed to behave behind the safety car.

I would be surprised if there was a penalty handed down but then again I was very surprised that Alonso was penalized last year for supposedly holding up Massa in final qualifying at Monza last year.|||its a race, all he was doing was keeping them on their toes, its not his fault they aren't good enough drivers to not crash into each other|||I cant see anything wrong with the way Hamilton drove behind the safety car. Experienced F1 commentator Martin Brundle didn't see anything wrong with his driving. If the drivers behind fall asleep and ram into the back of someone then it's their fault. Mark Webber never mentioned anything about Hamilton after the race, so why mention it 4 days after the event, is he trying to get cheap publicity for himself.

I'm not an ardent fan of Hamilton but I wish people would stop trying to diminish his talent and accept him for what he is, an excellent driver. I see that sour face Alonso is throwing in his two penny's worth now too.|||well its actually good driving

he was frustrating the other drivers so wen the times come he can get a jump on all of them|||been going on since time began, sportsmanship nothing more, i loved the way he nearly caught alonso out at the 1st start, he`s showing wisdom beyond his yr`s, great stuff!!|||I just think it was tough to comprehend if you were behind him. I mean, I understand keeping the brakes warm, but you're supposed to do it off line, not right in front of someone.|||His win is under threat for his supposed erratic driving...

:-)|||His driving behind the safety car was consistant throughout the first and second spells, so they shouldn't have been caught out.

I fear this is Vettle's Team being manipulated by it's engine supplier..... Ferrari! I do believe they will try all means to prevent the Drivers championship going to a McClaren driver, including this one.|||He done nothing wrong|||considering the terrible conditions, it was a wonder any driver could see what was in front of them, maybe the stewards should look at there own decision as to why they allowed the race to start in the first place. as for webber another whingeing Aussie|||I can't see why he should be punished for something that happened behind him.

He is a fabulous driver, but there seems to be a lot of jealousy and sour grapes surrounding his success.|||Yeah he should be punished he caused a crash and I believe he was probably trying to cause a pile up of cars crashing into the back of each other with the way he was driving!!

I hope he gets those 10 points taken off of him!|||I do, and it's not the first time either!

But we have to protect crybaby Lewis isn't it the one who shouldn't be there anyway with all the Ferrari "set-up" under his a**e...

Have a star.|||I saw the whole race and Lewis was only doing what anyone else does behind the safety car. The lead car becomes the safety when it peels into the pit lane. So my answer is NO. I don't think that he should be punished as he's done nothing wrong. It's the team boss of the Red Bull Racing and Toro Rossi is just p**sed as it's his 2 drivers that crashed into each other. I have just saw it on the news and Lewis was no where near them.|||gosh he won fair and square|||If it was such bad driving then why has it taken til now for complaints to be made? The race was four days ago. No one had a problem with it during the race and no one mentioned it after the race. When Mark Webber was interviewed after Vettel took him out he complained about Vettel, not Hamilton

This season is getting ridiculous. I want Hamilton to win but I'm getting really fed up with all this bullsh*t|||Article 40.10 of F1's Regulations: "The safety car shall be used at least until the leader is behind it and all remaining cars are lined up behind him. Once behind the safety car, the race leader must keep within 5 car lengths of it."

This was violated by Hamilton consistently. It doesnt matter what others do in other races, F1 rules are pretty clear. Looks like Lewis is in trouble, he did that during both the safety car stints.

-------------- ------------- ---------------- ------------------ --------------

Here is the Video while it lasts in Youtube. Look how wide Lewis went, wrong racing line and much more than the the stipulated 5 car lengths.|||watch any motor racing around the world and the driver behind the safety car all ways does what Lewis did..you back em up and then you sprint ..and then you warm your tyres etc ..mark webber must have been bribed ..he should be ashamed of himself ..i am a great Ferrari fan ..but I'm a great fan of Lewis . he is going to be the best ever ..Alonso is a real disappointment to me ..thank god we still have men of integrity in the sport ..men like Ron Dennis|||I think that Lewis was driving spot on. Lewis was just using the whole track,(which he is allowed to do) keeping the breaks %26amp; tires warm. Just that the drivers who had a crash was not watching what was happening and were off the ball %26amp; they want an excuse rather than accepting that it was their fault.

Lets hope that the FIA chose to support Lewis %26amp; find him not guilty as F1 has had a bad year and it reputation is getting rather tarnished.|||they do it all the time speed up and slow down its up to the driver behind to see what the one in front is doing so i dont think hes to blame plus the rain and spray didnt help|||this was the same thing that caused schumacher and montoya to crash in the tunnel at monoco 2 or 3 years ago

it is a common practice for the last lap of a safety car to get the tires up to temp before they go back to green, but not on the 3-4 laps before that,|||Lewis did nothing different to what any other driver would have done. at the end of the day, if you are driving a car in any conditions and you go up someones @rse, you are ultimately responsible. you should maintain a respectable distance behind the car in front, and adjust your stopping times and distance in the rain. Vettel can't blame Lewis just because he was looking at him instead of the car directly in front of him.|||Put Schumacher (Michael) in Hamilton position and there would be a deluge of criticism on him.

That makes me think that Mr Cleanface is a bit more guilty than he wants us to believe. Good driver? I'll tell you at the end of next season....
