Who is to blame for scratch, double checked child locks are they are definately not working lights go on (as though they are) but you can still opened all doors. My 20 month old son opened door and it hit lamp post when turning corner and got a slight dent and scratch, will I have to pay even though they should really have these safety features working.
This is a brand new micra given to me by insurance as my car was stolen and getting fixed.|||Is your son ok? :o
thats awful!! the garage should pay!!! ...
You say the lights were on but you could open all doors!! ... did you check this before you set off?|||They should fix it.|||its their fault! they cant blame you, your son could have been hurt!|||its there fault, if they get aarsey , sue them, sue them anyway , your child's life was in danger, say you where driving on the motorway and it opened. report it anyway..|||you must have been driving awfully close to that lamp post...I would be more concerned on the fact your child could have been seriously injured..|||I suspect you will probably have to pay as it was in your care at the time and you should have checked the road worthyness of the car before you drove it (check the small print in the loan agreement).
I would write to them immediately (get a name high up in the car lending company) and push the safety aspect and you son could have been killed! Mention the damage (briefly) so its on their records then wait and see what happens.
Alternatively, tell them you dont expect to receive a bill as you wont be paying it.
Just my 2p!|||If the light comes on, yeah, I would assume it is working...afterall, realistically, who is going to close themselves up into the back seat and check to see if the door is really locked?
I go with the other answer. Write a letter and stress how your kid could have been killed, but mention the damage. They should have checked these features and made sure it was in operating condition before they gave it to you.
