With the added security of airbags, crumple zones, trusion bars, roll cage and euro ncap +4 safety ratings, does the security of having these safety devices encourage drivers to take risks?
Does the consequence of having an accident feel less frightening?|||I wouldn't say the safety ratings have a direct effect on driving, but i would say 4 by 4s and larger vehicles (which have the higher rating) feel safer and could encourage people to drive less safely.|||personally - no
that being said I would be a hell of a lot more scared of driving a low rated mobil.
Is that the same thing?|||I think that all the new technology the govt pushes on car makers gives drivers a false sense of security. they think they can run through water ,ice and round corners with no sense of danger like the car will handle anything they dish out.|||Yes they do. In a study where 500 taxicabs were equipped with ABS, and 500 were not, all the drivers being aware of it, the crash rate was the same, because the drivers with ABS took more risks. The only safety tool that matters is your right foot.|||Cant remember which country, but they have taken away all safety procedures on the roads and cars.
Car accidents have decreased dramatically, you can take whatever you want from that fact...
